A typical massage can use any number of the techniques below, again, depending on your goals for that and every session. However, I use high quality oils, creams, and essential oils for each and every massage.

Remember that this is your massage and is an individualized experience.  If you would like different music, cream or oils, more or less pressure, please inform me.  This will greatly benefit us both.

Swedish/Relaxation Massage

The main focus of Swedish massage techniques is to promote relaxation and increase circulation.  It is a combination of friction and kneading of skin and muscular tissue that allows for a calming affect in the body, promoting circulation of blood and lymph through the body.

Neuromuscular Therapy/Deep Tissue Massage

The objective of neuromuscular therapy is to reduce muscular pain and stiffness, promoting greater range of motion and improving muscular strength.  This is a four-step process involving postural assessment, myofascial release, release of trigger points, and stretching.  This therapy is effective for lengthening muscle fibers that have become shortened and are the cause of muscular discomfort and pain.

Postural assessment is done by visual observation as well as measurement of range of motion of the joints involved.  After determination of which muscles are affected, I will work superficially to deep.  Fascia tissue is the most abundant connective tissue in the body.  This tissue lies just beneath the skin and wraps around all muscle groups, muscles, and muscle fibers.  It, too, can be the source of pain and discomfort.  Stretching this tissue allows me to work more deeply with less discomfort.  The third step is to lengthen the affected muscles by locating the trigger points or knots in the muscles.  By working the entire muscle from origin to insertion, greater range of motion in the joint can be achieved.  Finally, the muscles are stretched to put the joint through its full range of motion.

Hot Stone Therapy

Hot stones are used to facilitate relaxation and softening of the muscle tissue and can be used in conjunction with Swedish and neuromuscular therapies.  This therapy is excellent for reducing stress and pain due to arthritis, carpal tunnel, low back pain, menstrual cramps, and strained muscles.  Melt away your pain and stress.  There is no extra charge for this treatment.

Kinesio Taping

Kinesio taping can be used to help alleviate chronic pain or acute injury, reduce swelling and bruising, as well as prevent injury.  The tape allows for free movement and can be used to either activate or relax a muscle, depending on the technique used in its tension and directional placement.  Taping fees within the context of the massage session can range in additional fees and are dependent upon the complexity and amount of the taping required.

Chair Massage

With chair massage, the client is seated in a specially designed massage chair.  The client remains fully clothed, and the intention to relax tired muscles.
